For a fully silent retreat, look at the 10-day Vipassana courses in S.N. Goenka's tradition, held at centres such as Dhamma Giri in Igatpuri. Including arrival and departure days, a course takes 12 days. Students observe Noble Silence until the morning of the last full day, with no gestures or notes either. Phones and other devices are handed in, and reading and writing materials aren't allowed. Men and women are kept completely separate. The day starts at 4 am. You commit to staying for the whole course, and courses run on donations. Dhamma.org says it doesn't recommend the courses for people with significant mental health issues.
