Sri Ramanasramam (Ramana Maharshi Ashram)
Who can stay
The ashram keeps its limited rooms for devotees of Sri Bhagavan. It says people coming for temple visits, giripradakshina or spiritual tourism should find other lodging, and asks devotees to avoid full moon and festival days. source
How to book
Register and request a stay at stay.gururamana.org. The ashram does not accept requests by phone, on arrival or at short notice. It replies in 2–3 days and accepts only about 25% of requests. It recommends a stay of at least three days; the maximum is five days for Indian nationals and 14 for foreign nationals. Foreign guests upload passport and visa details, which the ashram reports to the FRRO. source
Dates can't be changed after you submit. Cancel at least 15 days ahead; the ashram says no-shows may be blocked from applying for a year. Check in between 7 am and 7 pm and check out by 1 pm. source
Rooms, meals and rules
Rooms and meals are free; rooms suit singles, couples or families of up to five. The ashram serves vegetarian South Indian meals to registered guests. Photography, smoking, alcohol and climbing beyond Skandasramam are prohibited. source

The shrine is open 5.30 am–11 am and 2 pm–8.30 pm, and the meditation hall 4 am–12.30 pm and 2 pm–9 pm. source

Karthigai Deepam 2026 in Tiruvannamalai
Date status: UNCONFIRMED. A press report says the Bharani Deepam will be lit early on 24 November 2026 and the Maha Deepam on the hill at 6 PM. We have not found an official temple, HR&CE or district notice yet. Reports of the festival's flag-hoisting date differ, so we leave it out until it is official.

Finding a stay in Deepam week
Sri Ramanasramam asks devotees to avoid festival days, so don't count on a room there. Contact the other ashrams early, and arrive with your booking confirmed in writing.
How to book safely
- Sri Ramanasramam books only through stay.gururamana.org. Anyone offering its rooms on WhatsApp or by phone is not the ashram.
- Use only the emails and phone numbers on each ashram's own page.
- Be wary of lookalike sites, "guaranteed Deepam-view rooms" and advance payments to personal UPI IDs.
- Carry original ID. Foreign guests: ask your host about the registration it has to file for you.
